Events Schedule

I can't wait until we can start making visits again!

All classes and activities are suspended until further notice as of 3/18/2020. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution and based on the data that is being provided by the Governor and other agencies. It is nearly impossible to practice social distancing when conducting a training class. When classes resume, we'll pick up where we left off, so continue to practice at home. Steve is planning on some Facebook Live lessons for anyone interested. You can follow us on Facebook by clicking on the link posted on the Homepage.

The following facilities are not allowing volunteers due to the virus. Most are probably prohibiting visitors at this time, so if a facility you visit is not listed here and you have not heard from them, we suggest you call before you try to make a visit.

Glendale Care Center
Jewish Hospital
The Lodge
Marjorie P. Lee
Mercy Hospitals
Ronald McDonald House
St. Joseph Orphanage - Altercrest and Villa Campuses

All Ohio schools are closed for three weeks beginning on 3/16/20, so any visits previously scheduled during those weeks will not be held.

Volunteer Opportunities

Mercy Anderson and Mercy Clermont Hospitals have opportunities for their pet therapy program. Last year we were accepted into the Jewish Hospital in Kenwood, and the Mercy hospitals are part of the same health system. One of our volunteers was volunteering at Jewish and recently moved over to Mercy Anderson. She checked with their volunteer coordinator and got us in at these hospitals (thanks Nan Williams). She visits with her dog Gus and they love visiting patients, visitors, nurses, doctors and even the ER crews. Gus was recently given an award for all his good work. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Diana Dawson at for additional information. We will get you in touch with the coordinator, and Nan has also offered to mentor.

Ronald McDonald House currently has enough teams. If you are interested, please stay in touch with Pam Fox to see if space has opened up. (Contact Information)

Glendale Place, 779 Glendale Milford Road would like to have an additional team visit their facility on Friday. If you are interested, you can contact Darlene in their activity department at 513-771-1779. Mariann Moster and Cali are currently visiting on Wednesday and she was asked to reach out to see if we could find an additional team. Please let John Connor know if you are able to visit, or if you would like more information or to have him contact the facility.

The Crossroads Center is a mental health and addiction treatment center in Cincinnati that is interested in establishing a pet therapy program with Canines for Christ teams. Crossroads Center is located at 311 Martin Luther King Dr., East. Pam and Bill Fox and John Connor have met with their staff and toured their facility. We would like to find some teams that can visit. For additional information, please contact Bill or Pam (Contact Information).

Central Parke Alzheimer's Special Care Center, 7495 Central Parker Blvd., Mason, OH 45240 has requested a team to make visits at their facility. Any day of the week works for them, but the best time is probably 10:00 am. I assume that visits could also be made on the weekend. If we get more than one team that has an interest, perhaps you could rotate weeks if unable to commit to weekly visits. Please contact John Connor ( if you are interested in visiting at this facility.

Dues Payments

Membership dues should be paid in February of each year. Members that joined from June - December 2019 will not owe a dues payment until February 2021. Dues are $50 per year and provide us with the ability to continue to have the funds needed to pay our insurance premium. The insurance covers you, your pet, and the locations we visit. We would not be able to provide this important benefit to our members without your annual dues payment. Checks can be made payable to Canines for Christ of Greater Cincinnati, and mailed to Canines for Christ of Greater Cincinnati, 9386 Colegate Way, West Chester, OH 45011. If you have any questions, please contact Pam Fox (Contact Information)

Please watch our Facebook page for weather related updates regarding our class schedule.  Cancellations will also be listed on the Fox19 Closings & Delays website.
